Odds comparison
Monday, July 6th, 2009
The number of betting websites will mean that there are different odds placed on the same outcome of the same sporting event. Although they are not usually much different in them, they may be enough of one for you to bet with a certain website as it may earn you some extra cash if your bet wins. Competition between the online bookmakers is fierce so they are constantly trying to undercut each other and this means you can get some great odds. You can just search through the online bookmakers and compare odds yourself, hunting out the best odds on whatever you want to place your bet on. Or you could go to a dedicated website which compares the odds for you. There are plenty of these around and they take out all the boring searching that you would have had to do to compare the odds.
These websites that compare the odds usually have a table that layouts out all the different odds that bookmakers are placing on each on each outcome of each sporting event. So this makes it really easy for you to compare the different odds that are on offer.
For major sporting events every online bookmaker puts odds out and so there is a lot of choice and can be a lot of variance in the odds that they offer. However here comes the problem if you want to get the best odds you may have to go from site to site and this may mean having a lot of accounts with different online bookmakers. This may mean you money is scattered all over the place. But if you don’t mind having numerous different betting accounts than you can really search out the best odds and place your bet with the website offering the best value for money.

Bundesliga Betting
Monday, June 29th, 2009
The Bundesliga is the top domestic football league in Germany. It is where some of Europe’s oldest and most well-known clubs ply their trade. European giants such as Bayern Munich, Brussia Dortmund and Hamburg all play in the league, so competition for the title is often fierce. Bayern Munich is Germany’s most recognised football team. They gained their recognition by winning a record amount of Bundesligs titles. They have won the competition an amazing 20 times in the 43 years the competition has been running. Although they are still dominant in the league to this day there are other teams that have won the title in the past few years. Stuttgart, Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg have all won the Bundesliga in recent years. So even though they are challenged, betting against Bayern to win the Bundesliga would not be a particularly wise bet. That are usually installed as the favourites for the Bundesliga at the start of the season and they are always fighting for the title. Also the odds on Bayern winning the title will be pretty short, so a bet on them to win the Bundesliga would not yield too much profit.
So to maximise your odds and make betting on the Bundesliga more interesting, start to be creative. Place an accumulator bet with your pick for the champions, a team to make it into the European qualification places and a team to be relegated. It would not be too hard to pick each of these three teams but because you have placed conditions on your bet your odds on your Bundesliga bet will be fairly big. Each bet on their own would not return a lot of money, but when they are all placed together in one bet the odds become large and you are placed for a nice win on your Bundesliga bet.

World Cup Betting
Monday, June 29th, 2009
The football World Cup is one of the greatest sporting events. It has produced some of the greatest sporting moments of all time and past tournaments still continue to be a major talking point around the world. You may think that betting would be limited to the few weeks the tournament takes place during the summer every four years, but you would be wrong.
You can still often bet on the World Cup even though the tournament only rolls around every four years. Regular qualifying games means you can place bets every so often throughout the year.
The main tournament brings together the best teams throughout the world who have won the right to be there by qualifying from their region. They are drawn into groups and the top two teams go through to the knockout phase. You can bet on individual matches and there will be plenty of variance in the betting, as there is often a gulf in class between the teams in the group stage and at the early stages of the knockout. Although the top teams throughout the world are in with a chance of winning only teams from South America and Europe have ever won the World Cup, Brazil having done so 5 times.
It is during the qualifying stages where you will experience some of the most exciting opportunities to bet on the World Cup. Teams are drawn into groups from countries in their region. This means that some of the giants of world football play against some of the minnows. England may play Andorra, Italy may play Albania and Spain may play Moldova. And it is during these qualification matches where some of the greatest upsets in world football have happened, and if you can bet on an upset that takes place you could be in for some serious money.

Champions League Betting
Monday, June 29th, 2009
The Champions League is one of football’s toughest yet most exciting competitions. It brings together top football clubs from across Europe who battle it over several months to win one of football’s most prestigious trophies. The Champions League is the one competition every top club in Europe wants to win and the one trophy that every club needs to win if they are to be recognised as a truly great team.
There are plenty of great opportunities to bet on the Champions League.
Although the competition brings together the top clubs from across the continent, there is a gulf in class between different European leagues.
La liga, the Premier League and the Serie A are regarded as the best leagues and as such Spanish, English and Italian teams tend to do well in the competition. So if you were to pick an outright winner they would probably come from one of these three leagues. Due to the gulf in class there are plenty of chances for an upset and the odd shock in the competition, so if you place a bet on an underdog you will likely get a good return on your money. If you want to place a bet on who was going to finish as top scorer in the Champions League, than there are two ways you could place your bet. Firstly pick a striker who will be guaranteed a starting place in his team. Then look at one of the favorite teams who are likely to go far in the competition, as they are likely to play more games and as such their top striker will have a better chance of scoring more goals. Or look for a group with some weak teams, the real lowly minnows of European football. These are likely to ship a lot of goals and picking the star striker of one of the stronger teams in the group may be a wise bet on the Champions League. As the player you back has a great chance to score numerous times against the weaker teams in his group.

The Premier League – bet on the best
Monday, June 29th, 2009
The English Premier League is probably the best domestic football league in the world and so it makes for some of the greatest betting on football. Betting on the Premier League is so good as it throws up so many shocks, yet there are also plenty of opportunities to place safe bets and still make a return on your money.
The ‘Big Four’ in England – Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal – have dominated the Premier League for some time. They have a virtual monopoly of the top places in the league and as such other teams rarely break into the top four. Manchester United have won the most Premier League titles and are usually favourites at the start of each season. You won’t get great odds if you place a bet on United but could be in with a great chance of winning.
However you can also place a bet on who will finish top of the league if the ‘Big Four’ were omitted. This opens it up to a while host of teams including Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Everton, Manchester City, West Ham and Fulham. You may be able to find some reasonable odds on any of those teams finishing fifth and so pick up some decent money from your bet on the Premier League.
And there is the relegation battle to consider when placing a bet on the Premier League. Three teams come up every year and three go down, so the obvious picks for relegation would be the teams that have just come up. Usually at least one of newly promoted teams does go straight back down and the other two are right in the mix of the relegation battle, but there are a few surprises that if you put a bet on will make some cash.

Scottish Premier League is a safe bet
Monday, June 29th, 2009
The Scottish Premier League (SPL) is one of the most predictable football leagues in the world. It is no exaggeration to say this league is a two horse race. Rangers and Celtic have dominated top flight Scottish football for the past 20 years. So betting against either of them to win the SPL is either brave or foolish. As such putting a bet on either Rangers or Celtic to win the Scottish league would be a safe bet. However if you do tip another team, you are likely to receive fantastic odds and as a result you would be in for a big payday.
You could make the Old Firm Derby – between Rangers and Celtic – even more interesting for yourself. It is already one of the fiercest rivalries in club football but to make it more enjoyable place a bet on it. The games always have shocks and numerous twists so it is well worth putting a bet on it.
But there are other things to bet on when having a gamble on the Scottish League. You could bet on who will come behind the Scottish big two and make it into third. Different teams have finished third in the Scottish Premier League and so means there are good odds on teams who have a reasonable chance of coming in third.
You could also place a bet on who would finish as top scorer in the Scottish Premier League. However a smart bet would again be on a player from either Celtic or Rangers. As the two teams dominate the league it is almost inevitable that one of their players will finish as top scorer. You guessed it for the 10 years to SPL has been running only players from Celtic ad Rangers have scored the most goals in the league. However there have been some players from other clubs who have come in touching distance of Celtic’s and Ranger’s finest, so taking a punt on a leading striker from one of the chasing teams may be worth thinking about.

FA Cup betting is a bet on history
Monday, June 29th, 2009
The FA Cup is perhaps the most prestigious domestic footballing competition in the world. It is the oldest competition, dating back to 1871, and as such is steeped in history. The FA Cup allows for some great betting opportunities as it is a knockout competition that pits some of England’s biggest teams against some of the smallest and world-class stars against amateurs.
The knock out format means there are plenty of opportunities for the smaller teams to claim a famous victory over one of the big boys. So a bet on the FA Cup means there are plenty of chances to win big if you back a team who claim a victory over a team placed much higher in the English league system. The chance of near impossible victories and the gulf in class of opponents in the earlier rounds means that it can be extremely exciting to place a bet on the FA Cup.
The most obvious FA Cup bet would be the outright winner. But if you are looking for an outside bet that could make you some serious money you may have to look elsewhere. England’s biggest clubs have dominated the competition for a number of seasons. Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool – collectively know as the English ‘Big Four’ – have won the competition 20 times in the past 23 years. And the last time a team outside the top flight won the FA Cup was in 1980 when West Ham beat Arsenal. Another thing to bear in mind when putting a bet on the FA Cup is a top-flight team has always been in the final.
However there have been some interesting results in the FA Cup that has made for some interesting betting. Teams from outside the Premier League can and do reach the later stages of the competition. For example Burnley, Cardiff and West Brom – who all were playing outside the Premier League – reached the FA Cup semi-finals.
