Football betting for beginners
Monday, June 29th, 2009
Football is simply a game played by two teams, the one who scores more goals than the other team wins. But there are many ways to win money betting on football and if you are beginner to football betting it is easy to get started.
The easiest way to place a bet on football if you are a beginner is to pick the team that will win the match. However if you bet on the team who are much better than the other and are widely expected to win, you will not make that much money on your bet. However if you back the underdog, and the bigger the apparent gulf in class of the teams, than you could be in line to make a healthy return on your bet. But of course they are less likely to win.
You can also bet on the half time score, how many goals will be scored in match, the first booking and who will score the first goal. Or to get some fantastic odds on your football bet and as such could be on for a big win, you can bet on a combination of factors. When picking a first scorer, try and choose one of the attacking players, such as a striker or a winger, as they are the players who will be in the most attacking positions during the game. However central defenders often get forward for corners and set pieces so there s always chance they will score, and of course you will get better odds on them finding the back of the net.
To try and pick a team who is likely to win, you may have to do some research. Look at how the two teams have been performing recently, study their form, so you can place a good bet. Also look at their previous meetings and see if one team has an edge over the other one. When picking the first scorer look at individual player’s form, try and find out who has been scoring and more importantly when they scored. Try and pick a frequent scorer who tends to score early in a game.

How to place a bet
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
Betting shops are situated throughout the UK and numerous different kinds of bookies are dotted round the countries towns and cities. Common bookies include William Hill, Ladbrokes, and Coral and there are a host of independent bookmakers as well. Because there are so many, competition is fierce so you are likely to get some good odds when placing a bet at a bookmaker.
The format in all bookmakers is the same, so it is easy to place a bet and if you win collect your winnings. The desk where you place you bet is usually situated towards the back behind a screen of some sort. This is where you will place your bet, ask for odds on your bet and if lucky enough collect your winnings.
The shop will have betting slips dotted around the shop. There is a general slip that any type of bet can be placed on. The slip is usually blank and requires you to fill out the details. The simplest way to bet is just to pick an outright winner of an event. First you have to pick what you are going to bet on, in this example we are going to pick a horse race. So write down who you are backing and then write ‘win’ underneath your selection. Then put your stake down or how much you want to bet on your selection. Then as it is a horse race you will have to write down the time and where the race is taking place (you may not have to do this for all bets). Then at the bottom where it says ‘total stake’ write in how much the total your bet comes to. If you have just bet on one thing it would be the same as your bet, but if you have used the slip for more than one bet add your stakes together and put that total in the ‘total stake’ box at the bottom.
For special events or the weekend or midweek football fixtures, there are usually betting slips that are already made up. These make it really simple and easy to place a bet. All you need to do is put a mark in the box next to the selection you are backing, put a mark in how much you are going to bet and then your total stake at the bottom.

How to Win Big
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
Once in a while you hear a story of someone winning big and hitting the jackpot with a crazy bet they have placed. There are many ways you can win big with a bet at the bookmakers. The way in which people win big, while not placing a huge initial stake, is through a betting accumulator. This means placing numerous bets within a single bet that make the odds look extremely attractive. However for your bet to come in, and for you to win some serious money, all of the conditions on your bet have to fall your way. As the odds keep rolling over on each bet within your bet it means you can win big.
There are a number of ways you can place an accumulator bet. If you were betting on the greyhounds you can put in one bet that trap one will come first, trap two will come second and trap three will come third. Now if they do finish in that order, you would win big – compared to your stake - on your bet. However they have to finish in that order otherwise you would not win. Also you could put an accumulator bet on a set of football fixtures. After picking a number of teams to either win or draw a game your bet will make you some serious money if all the games finish in the way you have predicted. Pick around five or six teams and you will be looking at winning big on your bet. Also in football you can bet on a number of things to happen during a match, if you pick a few and they all happen you will win a big win on your small stake. For example you bet on who will score first, who will get the first booking, what the half-time score will be, how many throw-ins the match will have, how many free-kicks will be awarded, how many fouls will be committed etc.
One thing that is important when you want to win big is to sign up with more then one sportsbook. This will help you to always play for the best odds.

How to choose a sportsbook
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009
There are plenty of choices when trying to pick a Sportsbook in order to place a bet. There are usually plenty of betting shops dotted around where you live. There are always a couple in town centres are plenty in city centres. However if you don’t live near a town centre or a city centre you go online and search for one on the Internet. One other problem is also how to compaire the different sportsbooks from each other and were to get a bonus, this is another reason for using Internet.
There is not that much difference between all the big bookmakers out there. They have a similar set up, a similar lay out and interior design and the odds that they offer are not massively different. Picking a bookmaker is often down to convenience, if you live near to one that will become your bookmaker. The betting slips and how you place your bet are usually all the same from bookmaker to bookmaker so you can easily move around between different bookies. The process for claiming money on a winning bet is also the same, so you shouldn’t have difficulties if you go to different bookmakers.
There are also a host if independent bookmakers dotted around the country. These operate in much the same way as the larger corporate bookmakers. However the main benefit with betting with a corporate bookmaker is that you can cash your winning bet directly over the Internet.
