Greyhound betting Guide
Sunday, July 5th, 2009
Betting on the greyhounds is great fun and offers many opportunities for you to place a bet and win some serious cash. There are thousands of races that tale place in the UK throughout the year over a number of different venues. Greyhound racing is simple, six dogs race after a mechanical hare around an oval track, and the first one to cross the lie wins.
Greyhound racing attracts a lot of interest and as such a lot of money is bet on greyhound racing. Bets are usually taken at bookmakers or at the track where the race is taking place. Betting usually focuses around which dog is going to win the race. The dogs are placed in traps and during the course of the race each dogged is referred to in which trap they started. The dogs also wear a nice coat that has a number on so they are easily recognised during the race.
It can be quite unpredictable greyhound racing as any of the field has a reasonable chance to go on and win the race. Dogs often fall or go wide at the curve so it means that races can be won by the underdog. You can place a single bet on who you expect to win the race, however the odds are not astronomical and as such you would not be in for a massive win.
To start to get decent odds on your greyhound bet think about betting double or even trebles on the outcome of a greyhound race. Doubles would mean when you bet on which trap would come first and second and trebles is when you bet on who would come first, second and then third. To win they have to come in that exact order, if they do not come in that order, your bet does not win. So if you bet doubles on trap 1 to come in first with trap 5 to come in second, trap 1 has to finish first and trap 5 has to come in second, if they do not come in like that, you do not win. However if your selections do come in – as the odds will be fairly big – you will make some serious money on your greyhound bet.

Ice Hockey Betting Guide
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
Ice Hockey is a fast paced, high action game and with just a flick of a stick you win or lose you bet on a game. The game in the UK is not as high profile as it is over in the USA or Canada but there is still a high level of competition and games are fiercely contested. The top competition in the UK is called the Elite Ice Hockey League in which eight teams battle it out to win the title. They play each other teams times home and away, so they play each other six times in the course of a season. There is no relegation from the EIHL so there is no pressure amongst the bottom teams at the back end of the season.
However the race for the title is often very exciting so this means there are plenty of exciting opportunities to bet on ice hockey in the UK. The Coventry Blaze and the Sheffield Stealers are the most successful teams in the competition, with the former winning three titles while the latter has taken two. So if you were to bet on who was to win the Elite Ice Hockey League you must consider the Steelers and the Blaze. They are installed are the favourites before the season has got under way and they are always there or there about at the business end of the season.
You can bet on individual results, which team will score the most goals in a season, which team will concede the most goals. Or you could bet on individual players, such as who will play the most minutes in a season, which player will score the most. You can bet on anything in ice hockey.
Although the sport is not as big in the UK as football, rugby, golf, or even for that a while host of sports, you can still place a bet on the Elite Ice Hockey League in any bookmakers or online bookmakers. They still offer punters a chance to bet on the ice hockey and they still provide decent odds.

Football betting for idiots
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
Football is a very basic game that is played by two teams, they both have 10 outfield players and one goalkeeper, who is allowed to handle the ball. The object of the game is to get the ball in the back of the net, the team who scores more goals than the other team wins. Football is simple and so is betting on football, and it is really easy to get started and placing your bet on the football.
The simplest way to place a bet on the football is to pick who you think will win. However if you pick a team that is the heavy favorites you will not make that much money on your bet. However if you back the underdog, and the bigger the gulf in class of the teams, than you could be in line to make some nice money on your football bet. But as they are not as good as the other team they are less likely to win.
So when placing a bet on the football - unless you have some crazy hunch - generally place a bet on the team who are the favorites to win. But do a bit of homework and study the forms of the two teams in the match. Find out which team is playing better and has the better form going into the match. Also find out if any of the teams have any injuries, look out for if any of their start players are out, as this will have a big impact on the match. Also study the previous meetings between the two teams, if one has an edge over the other one bet on that team.
You can also bet on the half time score, how many goals will be scored in match, the first booking and who will score the first goal. Or to get some fantastic odds on your football bet and as such could be on for a big win, you can bet on a combination of factors. When picking a first scorer, try and choose one of the attacking players, such as a striker or a winger, as they are the players who will be in the most attacking positions during the game.

Golf Betting Guide
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
Golf tournaments are played throughout the course of the year. Minor tournaments are played regularly while there are four major tournaments that are played every year. The four tournaments are the Open Championship, US Open, PGA Championship and the Masters. The majority of the golf betting takes place on these tournaments, as they are the most exciting and most high profile events. Every top player from around the world comes to compete in these events, so it is during these tournaments where it is the best time to place a bet on the golf.
The obvious bet to make on the golf at theses tournaments would be the outright winner. There are a number of top pros you can bet on during these championships and realistically any number can make a run and go onto win the championship. The pre-tournament favourite is usually Tiger Woods, he is a golfing sensation and as such a lot of bets are placed on him to win any of the four major events. Other usual favourites include Padraig Harrington and Angel Cabrera, who both have had major successes in recent years. As they tend to be the favourites a bet on these three would not return too much money on your stake, as the odds on them winning will be short.
However there can be a shock now and again at these golf tournaments, as a good player can make a run and take the championship by storm. These players are harder to pick as they could come from a number of top pros. However look at different player’s from in the build up to each of the Majors and make an informed decision. Pick someone who is winning a number of minor tournaments on the golf tour or someone who is consistently making the top of the leader board. They will be a good pick for a winner and you might get better odds on them winning as they may not be one of the high profile players. However the bookmakers are not stupid, they will also notice an in-form player going in into a Major, so the odds on the player may become shorter in the run up to a Major.

Horse betting Guide
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
Betting on horse racing is the ultimate form of the gambling in Great Britain, it is the bookmakers’ bread and butter and the punters love to have a flutter on the nags. Race meetings are held regularly throughout the year - from March to December – so there is plenty of great opportunities to bet on horse racing. However the high profile, big race meetings tend to attract most of the media attention and so capture the public imagination. As such these high profile meetings also attract the majority of the betting.
Races such as Aintree, Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood are some of the biggest meetings in the country, if not the world. And it is at these meetings that some of the greatest horse races in the world are run. The Grand National is the UK’s most famous of all horse races and the betting action is wild during Grand National weekend. The betting is so wild as the race is so unpredictable, as the favourite only occasionally wins. So that means there is a distinct possibility that a real outsider, with long odds could go on to win the race and in the process get you a great return on your bet. In the 2009 Grand National Mon Mome – who was a 100-1 outsider - won the race, so whoever backed that horse picked up some serious money.
There are a three main ways you can bet on horse racing. The easiest is to back the outright winner and in the process you will win the most money on your bet. Or you could also bet for your horse to place, which would mean it coming first or second. The final one is to place a bet on a horse to show, which would mean it coming in first, second or third. If you bet for a horse to either place or show the odds would be shortened as the chances of your bet winning are increased.

Rugby Union Betting Guide
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009
The UEFA European Football Championship is held ever four years during the summer months when the domestic football leagues around Europe have their break. Unsurprisingly the competition consists of team made up from Europe who qualify for the competition by finishing first or second in one of seven qualifying groups. The football authorities seed the teams and then draw the groups, so this means the big boys of European football are kept apart until the later rounds.
Betting on the championship is ideal as it is two years from the last Football World Cup and two years before the next one. So it gives the opportunity for people to bet on a major football tournament in the preceding years between World Cups.
The competition begins in a league format. Four groups of four are drawn and then the top two teams after three matches go on to the quarter-finals, where the competition develops in to a knockout tournament.
There are plenty of opportunities to bet on the Euro Championships. Anyone one of a number of the top teams could win the tournament. One of the pre-tournament favorites does usually win the trophy. They are installed as favorites before the competition so the odds on them winning can be short in some cases. However there have been a couple of major shocks in the championships. Greece amazingly won the tournament in 2004 after overcoming the much fancied Portugal in the final. They were 150-1 to win Euro 2004 before it kicked off. And even more shockingly Denmark won in 1992. The Danes were only in the competition as Yugoslavia had to pull out due to the Yugoslav War.
You could also place a bet on who will end up as the top scorer. The top scorers for the past few championships have been Spain’s David Villa (4 in 2008), Czechoslovakia’s Milan Baros (5 in 2004), Serbia’s Savo Milosevic and the Netherland’s Patrick Kluivert (5 in 1998). So the top scorer does not score a crazy amount of goals. In fact the maximum number of games a player can play in the championship is six. So your best bet to pick the top scorer would be a team likely to go far in the competition as they have more opportunities to score. However the competition is tough in the final stages and as such scoring in the game can sometimes be low. So a good bet would be to look for a group with a couple of weaker teams in, who are likely to ship a lot of goals. Then find the star team in that group and then bet on their star striker to score the most goals in the European Football Championships. They do not have to be the favourites or even one of the best teams in the competition.

Tennis Betting Guide
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009
There are numerous tennis tournaments and tennis championships that are played throughout the year. However there are only four big ones commonly known as the ‘Grand Slams’, these four are the most prestigious tournaments in the world and as the ones all the players want to win. So this is where the majority of betting on tennis takes place and as such the tennis bookies are busiest during the two weeks each tournament usually lasts.
The Australian Open is first in January, then comes the French in May/June, Wimbledon is next in June/July and then the US Open round off the year in August/September. However there are very rarely any major upsets in these tennis tournaments as the players are seeded before the tournament begins. This means that the best players are kept apart from each other until the last few rounds of the tournament. If all goes according to plan, the number one seed and the number two seed should meet in the final. So this means the top players in the world generally make it to the final and the top players are the ones who go onto win the Grand Slams.
Because of the seeding you are not going to get great odds on picking an outright winner with a reasonable shot of winning the title, you would be lucky to double your money in most cases. So you have to use your imagination a bit when betting on tennis. Place a bet on things such as how many games or sets a player drops of their way to the final, the number of double faults a player may make or the number of aces they may serve. When you start to put a couple of these into a single accumulated bet, you will then start to get some attractive odds on your tennis bet and be in with a shot of winning some big money.
